The Anti Racism Observatory for Scotland will launch in 2025.

The Design Advisory Group (DAG) for the future Anti Racism Observatory for Scotland was invited by the Minister for Equalities to support strategic and operational work during an interim phase from December 2023 to December 2024.

DAG successfully delivered on their tasks:

  1. Supported the future AROS host tender process. Strathclyde University are the host organisation for an anticipated 2 years before the new anti-racism accountability organisation for Scotland becomes fully independent.
  1. Created an anti-racism community engagement fund so that that people who experience the negative impact of systemic racism individually and/or in their communities were involved in the design processes.  44 organisations secured dedicated anti racism funding. Details of the fund can be found here.
  1. DAG set out the foundational approaches required by future AROS in order to build a community led anti racism accountability organisation for Scotland. This was undertaken following the community-led principles and design recommended by the AIGG  in partnership with community groups and organisations across Scotland.

The detailed report can be found here.

The role of the DAG has now ended. We thank you for your efforts to support this anti racism work for Scotland.
